In these financially difficult times it is becoming ever harder to meet the growing cost of School Fees. Private School Fees are now typically around £15,000 a year for Preparatory School and £24,000 a year for Secondary School, plus another £6,000 to £8,000 for boarding. These sums are payable out of taxed income.

I can suggest several ways to reduce these commitments so you can save on school fees.

Boarding. A popular misconception is that boarding school is the only way of ensuring continuity of education for a child away from home. In fact there are several other ways of doing it which are much less expensive and provide him/her with more personal care and attention than any boarding school can manage. There’s one way which costs nothing - depending on certain personal circumstances, which aren’t all that rare. Bear in mind that the publicity on behalf of boarding schools is trying to sell a service. There’s nothing wrong with that but it means that the information they and their associations put out tends to give a one-sided or inaccurate view of the situation.

I am a highly qualified and experienced school teacher, now retired but still registered with the Department for Education. I have an MA from Dublin University, a BA Hons from London and a Diploma in Education from Manchester. I have taught at almost every kind of school: primary, secondary, comprehensive, grammar, single sex, mixed, private and state.

My charge is fixed at just ten percent of what you save in the next term (payable within a week of the end of that term) as a result of taking up any of my suggestions, up to a maximum of £400. And that would be a final payment. And if I save you nothing, you pay me nothing. The percentage would be based on fees only, without reference to ancillary expenses such as uniform, books, cost of travel, etc.

My suggestions do not involve scholarships or bursaries; nor do they discuss financial planning matters such as loans or insurance policies.

You have nothing to lose by making an enquiry, so why not get in touch with me?

Just tell me two things: the age of your child and the fees you are planning to pay next term. I will then let you know if I can help.
